Bubb, bubbles and bunting

The dog was not Sparkles but my next door neighbour's retriever, the well-named Tudor
I hope you enjoyed the bank holiday yesterday, I certainly did.
The picture above shows me at our nearest street party with my friend Stephen Bubb, CEO at ACEVO, who invited us all as his brother lives just round the corner from us. It's a small world. Before the party we had a BBQ at home, our first for the year with my 10-year-old Katie providing our pudding - the most amazing meringues filled with Eton mess, put together to look like a wedding cake. I have to say, my Kate is the most extraordinary cook, I have wept over failed meringues but she could not have been cooler or more successful and they tasted as good as they looked. After the BBQ we all walked up the road, with Stephen's lovely sister Lucy, to the best street party I have ever been to. There were games, competitions, dodgy dancing and some really delighted elderly folk having some of their first conversations with neighbours. The Royal Wedding was, if nothing else, the best excuse for celebration and I don't know if you felt it, perhaps even a collective sigh of relief, maybe things will be alright after all?
